With colder months on the horizon and more families struggling to make ends meet, the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank is launching its annual Freedom From Hunger Community Food Drive. The three-week campaign, running from Aug. 23 through Sept. 13, calls on residents across the peninsula to donate non-perishable food and help ensure that no neighbor goes without a meal.

Donation bins are located at grocery stores in Kenai, Soldotna, and Sterling, including Walmart, Safeway, Fred Meyer, Three Bears Alaska, IGA, and Save U More. Shoppers can simply drop canned goods, dry foods, or other shelf-stable items into marked collection barrels during their regular grocery trips.
