COOPER LANDING — The turquoise waters of the Upper Kenai River have landed Cooper Landing on a new list of America’s most coveted adventure destinations.

A national survey of more than 3,000 respondents ranked Cooper Landing as the No. 30 active vacation spot in the U.S., earning it the top placement for Alaska communities. The survey, conducted by BetterNurse.org, highlighted Cooper Landing as a premier base for fishing, rafting, and wildlife viewing.

“The Kenai River churns, bends, and glows a surreal turquoise as it cuts through the peninsula — and Cooper Landing is the perfect base to take it all in,” the survey notes. “Anglers chase salmon runs while rafters drift the upper river, eyes peeled for bald eagles and bears along the shore.”
