PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - The CEO of the Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity is stepping down.

Denise Moore, who became the CEO of the agency in April , cited family concerns requiring more time in the Chicago area and disfunction within the agency’s board.

In her resignation letter, Moore said she was asked by David Wortman , Deputy Director for the Office of Community Assistance at the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity to stay through the end of the year to help wind-down the functions of the PCCEO - but will not able able to fulfill that request.

That request came in the same letter informing the PCCEO board of the decision to defund the agency’s LIHEAP and CSBG grants.
