NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — The YWCA in New Britain will reopen its infant, toddler and preschool programs on Wednesday.
This comes less than a month after the death of two-year-old Saunti Reynolds, who fatally choked on food at the center on July 29.
A former client at the YWCA says the programs reopening just a month after Reynolds’ death is simply too soon.

"I’m disgusted. I’m appalled. It makes my stomach turn. I don’t think it should be open,” said Savanna Gonzalez, whose children were enrolled at the YWCA in New Britain in 2023 and 2024.
Gonzalez added that she had several issues and made multiple complaints about the facility in the short time her children were enrolled there.
