CARY, N.C. (WNCN) -- Cary Police are actively investigating a string of car break-ins Tuesday that led to two separate chases, two separate crashes, and three boys behind bars.

It all started around 2:45 a.m. at the Alta Ivy Apartments, 2000 Olivewood Street off the 3900 block of Ansley Stream Lane, in Cary.

But throughout Tuesday, car owners and car repair companies, like The Kia Windshield Guys, worked in the complex parking lot picking up pieces of damaged cars, including that of resident Christian Gilbert.

“I woke up this morning, and it turns out someone busted the window of my car. I was trying to leave for work around 8:30," Gilbert said.

Police say several other cars in the complex’s parking lot also were broken into by the young trio of troublemakers.
