A swimmer in the waters near the docks at Lake Elsinore Tuesday suffered complications that nearly led to his drowning.
The water emergency was reported at 4:50 p.m. just off of Lakeshore Drive, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Sheriff’s deputies were the first to reach the location and discovered that the victim, whose identity was not released, had to be pulled from the water by good Samaritans, according to reports from the scene.
“The person was alert and breathing when our firefighters arrived,” fire Capt. John Clingingsmith said.
An ambulance was summoned to the location, but it wasn’t immediately clear whether the victim was taken to nearby Inland Valley Hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
Additional details on the near drowning were unavailable.
