An illegal gambling and cannabis sales operation was shut down following a multi-agency investigation in Banning, authorities said Thursday.
Banning police Capt. Brandon Smith said tips led to the discovery of the operation in a strip mall at 580 West Ramsey St., just north of Interstate 10.
Search warrants were obtained and served at the location Wednesday, when Banning police joined by Riverside County Sheriff’s Department personnel and municipal Department of Code Enforcement officers raided the premises.
Smith said the law enforcement operation resulted in the seizure of $4,225 in cash tied to the gambling activity, 48 pounds of marijuana and mushrooms, and an illicit coin-push machine, similar to the those found in casinos.
Citations were issued but no one was arrested at the site
