BEMIDJI, Minn. — A Beltrami County Sheriff's deputy was injured after a man in a suspected stolen vehicle collided with their squad head-on during a pursuit Tuesday morning near Bemidji.

The sheriff's office said the deputy was treated at a nearby hospital and released. The alleged suspect was transported by ambulance to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries and remains in custody.

According to the Beltrami Sheriff's Office, the pursuit began after a deputy was conducting a follow-up to an investigation into a stolen vehicle near a mobile home park west of Bemidji. Officials say the stolen vehicle was located, but when authorities attempted to make a traffic stop, the driver fled.
