BELTRAMI COUNTY — A Beltrami County deputy and a 26-year-old man have sustained injuries following a vehicle pursuit that resulted in a head-on crash on Tuesday morning.

According to a release from Beltrami County Sheriff Jason Riggs, at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, deputies were conducting a follow-up investigation into a stolen vehicle reported in the Elpine Village Mobile Home Park, west of Bemidji.

A stolen vehicle was located and a traffic stop was attempted. The driver fled, leading law enforcement on a vehicle pursuit on gravel roads and snowmobile trails, briefly losing the pursuing deputies.

The vehicle was again located driving southbound on Grant Creek Road NW. A deputy was traveling northbound on Grant Creek Road with emergency lights activated.
