SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Gun violence prevention groups pressured the state legislature again on Monday to enact a ban on assault weapons, as Gov. Walz prepares to potentially call a special session later this month in response to the shooting at Annunciation Church.
The afternoon rally on Labor Day drew a large crowd to the front steps of the capitol, including many young people and high school students from across the Twin Cities.
Samia Mohamud, a senior at Bloomington Kennedy High School, said she has always been unsettled by the possibility of a school shooting but feels even more urgency after one happened in her own community.
