MINNEAPOLIS — For many local school districts, Tuesday will mark the first day of a new school year.
Security has become a major topic of conversation amongst parents, teachers and staff after the recent shooting at Annunciation Church in Minneapolis.
"The way we prep for every school year is the same, but this year is a little different, obviously,” Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) Assistant Security Director Marcus Sullivan said.
During the first week of the new school year, SPPS will utilize extra resources from the Saint Paul Police Department.
"They reached out to us and said, 'Hey, how can we support?'" Sullivan said. "They will have their officers out with our school support liaisons at every school.”
