NORTH DAKOTA (KXNET) — The TSA is looking at raising its liquid limit for carry-on bags, but experts say it could take a decade or more before travelers see the change.

Right now, passengers are still bound by the agency’s 3-1-1 rule, the policy that allows only travel-size liquids in carry-on bags.

TSA officials say they want to ease the restriction, but most checkpoints do not yet have the advanced CT scanners needed to safely screen larger bottles. Until that technology is in place nationwide, the 3.4-ounce limit will remain.
