SAC CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Sac City is looking yet again at building a new county jail. A bond measure for the project failed at its first attempt last November, coming up just 1% short of approval.

Sac County Jail is hosting a series of open houses for the community to see the condition of the jailhouse. The aging jail has suffered numerous prisoner escapes, and authorities point to safety concerns for inmates as well as jailers as the need for immediate changes.
