A group of suspects who allegedly shot at sheriff’s deputies during a vehicle pursuit were in custody Wednesday morning after a search in a Compton neighborhood.

Deputies began pursuing the suspects after receiving a shots-fired call around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday and spotting their vehicle on the westbound Artesia (91) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspects exited the freeway at Central Avenue in Compton, then drove to 139th Street and Parmlee Avenue, where they left their vehicle, LASD Deputy Tracy Koerner told City News Service.

During the pursuit, the suspects shot at the deputies several times, according to KTLA5.

After exiting the vehicle, the suspects ran into the surrounding neighborhood and deputies established a perimeter in the 14100 block
