GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Michigan State Trooper was arrested this week on criminal charges related to testimony in his wife’s drunk driving trial.

News 8 affiliate UpNorthLive broke the news that Charles Sierzputowski was arrested on Tuesday. He works out of the MSP Cadillac Post and was reportedly placed on unpaid leave last Friday.

Criminal charges for one count of perjury and another of obstructing justice were filed back in March. An arrest warrant for the charges was filed on Monday.

Sierzputowski’s wife, Abigail, was found guilty of driving under the influence and causing a serious crash in 2023 in Grand Traverse County. According to UpNorthLive, prosecutors there accused the trooper of lying under oath and “abusing his position.”
