The Philadelphia Eagles are waiving Tristin McCollum, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter.

This news comes one day after McCollum made the team’s initial 53-man roster as the fourth safety behind Reed Blankenship, Sydney Brown, and Andrew Mukuba.

McCollum’s departure might signal that the team isn’t too worried about the hamstring injury Mukuba suffered last week. And/or it could mean that the team is looking to add another safety. Former Eagles starter Marcus Epps is notably available.

If McCollum doesn’t get claimed off waivers, the Eagles will probably have interest in signing him to their practice squad. At that point, he’ll be a prime candidate to be temporarily elevated to the game day roster early in the season. If McCollum isn’t back and the Eagles don’t sign a
