Former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling has gone from teammate to opponent in the span of 24 hours.
After being released as a vested veteran on Tuesday, Valdes-Scantling has agreed to a deal with the San Francisco 49ers, who will face the Seahawks at Lumen Field in Week 1.
Tuesday night it was reported that Valdes-Scantling would sign with either the 49ers or the Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle’s Week 2 opponent. Either way, the MVS revenge game was imminent.
MVS signed with the Seahawks in March prior to the team adding Cooper Kupp in free agency. The emergence of fifth-round rookie Tory Horton bumped MVS down the depth chart, and his lack of special teams snaps was an indicator that his roster spot was far from secure despite that $3 million in guaranteed money. al
