NORWALK, Conn. (WFSB) - A woman from Norwalk was arrested for leaving her one-year-old son unattended in a kiddie pool.

Officers were called to the area of Vollmer Avenue after a report of an unresponsive one-year-old on July 12th, the police department said.

When crews arrived, family members quickly handed the the child, who was unconscious, limp, and not breathing to the responding officer.

Officer Vazquez used life-saving measures, including turning the child onto his stomach, holding the child at a downward angle, and delivering firm back blows.

The infant soon began to vomit water, clear the airway, and gasp for air. Within moments, the child regained consciousness and began to cry.

Police said the infant regained consciousness and began to cry.
