JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WAVE) - Jeffersonville police say that they have identified a vehicle and person of interest in connection with a hit-and-run that left a man dead early Sunday morning.

Police said the pedestrian was hit by a car in the 1800 block of 8th Street around 2:53 a.m. on Aug. 24. He died before he could be taken to the hospital.

The Clark County Coroner later identified the victim as 41-year-old Samuel Carlisle.

In a statement, JPD announced that a vehicle and a person of interest were identified on Tuesday, August 26.

Police said that the case remains ongoing as detectives are ensuring a thorough investigation is completed.
