Shining Star CLE – an “American-Idol” style singing competition for high school vocalists presented by the Mandel Jewish Community Center of Cleveland in Beachwood – is returning to Playhouse Square for its ninth year at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7 to award over $18,500 worth of scholarships to its winners.

The competition will feature 10 finalists and two alternates from local area high schools who will perform a song of their choice, and audience members will get to participate in a live voting by casting their ballot for their favorite top four finalists, who are selected live by a panel of professional judges.

Finalists are: Abby Becker of Twinsburg High School, Dajeun Dickerson of Canton McKinley Senior High School, Henry Dyck of Cleveland Heights High School, Tatiaunna Hope of Cleveland Scho
