LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - I-65 in Louisville will close for the months of June and July in 2026 to accommodate the replacement of three bridges.

Governor Andy Beshear announced the $150 million project that, according to the state press release, will replace bridges “over Kentucky and Brook Streets; Hill Street, a CSX rail line and Burnett Avenue; and Bradley Avenue. Work will be completed on these bridges by mid-2027.”

But that work will require the two-month closure of I-65 from Jefferson Street to the Watterson Expressway.

According to the press release, the closure “will allow for accelerated construction that will save at least a year to construct these bridges. Traffic will be detoured via I-264 west and I-64 west. On-ramps at Jefferson Street and Liberty Street/Muhammad Ali Boulev
