BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - A student has been detained after a gun was found at Battery Creek High School on Wednesday afternoon.
A 16-year-old male was detained by a school resource officer for bringing a gun on campus, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
The student was transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
Deputies say that at no time was a threat made to students or faculty.
School officials say the school was put on a secure status while being investigated.
A communication message sent to parents says that there will be extra law enforcement and support staff on the campus this week.
