BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- It was a free health fair for families in Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon.

Thousands of book bags were given to children in need. It was also a community coming together for a healthy school year.

Nicholas Morales is showing off his backpack filled with markers, notebooks, and health information for his family. He’s headed to the first grade with a new book bag and a new attitude.

His mom is excited too. She says every little bit helps for back-to-school shopping. It can be very expensive.

The Martin Luther Playground in Sunset Park was converted into a sea of health resources and hope. It’s called the National Health Center Week Annual Back to School Family Resource Event in Brooklyn, hosted by NYU Langone, JPMorganChase, and Health First.
