CLENDENIN, W.Va. (WSAZ) - After nine years, the people of Clendenin are now able to walk into a grocery store and shop without having to leave town.

“Ever since the flood, we’ve had a time getting groceries, and I don’t drive that much anymore, so it’s just very nice to have it this close,” Clendenin resident Donna White said.

White and fellow Clendenin residents had to travel outside of town limits to grocery shop.

Mayor Kay Summers said this store will have it all.

“This is a big grocery store. We are going to call this the Gucci Save A Lot because it will have everything that we want,” Summers said.

On Wednesday morning, the store had its grand opening, and residents were lined up ready to get inside and see the newest addition.

“We are really proud, and I love that,” Summers said
