LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -For nearly two decades, the soundtrack of Nebraska football featured the voice of Greg Sharpe . Losing his battle with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, Sharpe left behind a legacy of professionalism, humility and kindness in the broadcast booth. That broadcast booth is now named after him; and filling the seat? 34-Year-old Kyle Crooks.

“You’re getting somebody that’s 24/7, 365 in what I do,” Crooks said.

That’s how Crooks, the first new play-by-play announcer for Nebraska football in 17 years, describes his attitude towards his role. He’s only been a Nebraskan for a month, but knows exactly the environment he is entering.
