The Detroit Lions on Tuesday waived rookie defensive end Ahmed Hassanein with an injury settlement.
Hassanein (pec), selected with the 196th overall pick in April’s draft, was injured in the second half of Detroit’s preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Aug. 16. Meeting with reporters two days later, head coach Dan Campbell said Hassanein would be “down for a while.”
“It’s tough when it’s a young guy (getting hurt),” Campbell said Aug. 18. “Because you build so much of your foundation of what you are, your foundation over your first two years. ...
