CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is recovering after a fire broke out at a home in northeast Charlotte.

Charlotte firefighters responded to a two-story home in the 1700 block of Lakedell Drive shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Crews arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the home.

Thirty firefighters worked to control the fire.

Officials say one person was injured and transported to the hospital for treatment. No firefighters were hurt during the fire.

Charlotte Fire investigators determined that the fire was started accidentally due to "unattended cooking."

The fire caused $25,000 worth of damage.
