LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska coaches waited to hand out the final Blackshirt before the Huskers season opener. Ten others were awarded earlier this week, but head coach Matt Rhule delayed on the last black practice jersey. Rhule wanted to see which defensive tackle emerged as his team prepared for Cincinnati. And that player is Keona Davis.

The sophomore from Tucson, Arizona received a Blackshirt on Wednesday according to an Instagram post.

Davis edged Jaylen George for the coveted practice jersey. Davis appeared in 12 games as a true freshman in 2024. He made ten tackles, along with his first career quarterback hurry in the Pinstripe Bowl.
