COLUMBUS, Ohio — Federal authorities arrested a man in Massachusetts on Wednesday morning charged with murder in the death of a Columbus toddler five years ago.

The U.S. Marshals Office says 25-year-old Dioblis Williams was wanted in the death of 2-year-old Jamir Jones.

Police responded to an apartment in the 2200 block of Holt Avenue on March 25, 2020, for a report of a drowning.

According to Franklin County Municipal Court documents, Williams was babysitting his girlfriend’s son while she was at work.

Williams put Jones in the bathtub unsupervised, court documents say. Several minutes later, the boy was found unconscious in the bathtub. The boy was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
