CHESHIRE, Connecticut — A correctional officer in Connecticut was lucky to escape alive Monday after being brutally attacked by an inmate.
The reported incident occurred on Aug. 25, at 11: 18 a.m., in the Cheshire Correctional Institution in the town of Cheshire.
Three correctional officers are said to have sustained various injuries to the neck, back and knees while restraining the inmate.
A release Wednesday from AFSCME Council 4, a union representing the correctional officers, announced and described the assault.
It says the inmate “attacked a correctional officer viciously and without provocation during mealtime.”
The inmate then threw searing hot coffee in the correctional officer’s face, according to the union.
