SIMSBURY, Conn. — Officials at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center say electric bicycle injuries are rising, and they aren't the only ones noticing the increase.

Walter Rochefort owns the Bicycle Cellar in Simsbury. He says six out of every 10 bikes he sells are e-bikes.

"Parents especially need to be on top of their game because you have a 13-year-old child, and they put them on a bike that weighs 85 pounds and goes over 45 mph, it's a recipe for disaster, and that's what’s happening, that's what we are seeing here,” Rochefort said.
