HORACE, N.D. — Some homeowners in Horace are fighting recent property special assessment bills that landed in their mailboxes, with some totaling more than $100,000.

One man told WDAY News he feels the city did not give them a say and is not properly valuing their opinions.

The Wednesday night, Aug. 27, discussion was the first of two special assessment meetings this week in Horace. The Horace Meeting House was packed, with several people questioning why they were not given a say earlier, before they received their bills.

"I would strongly encourage you, because any time you talk policy, that needs to be City Council. Please make sure you follow the rules so that your voice can be heard," said Brad Maczkowicz, Horace special assessment commissioner.
