AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - We are past the off-season and into week one, and the Palo Duro Dons are ready to get things started.
“I’ve been waiting all summer... playing football every single day and keeping my head down,” says senior Danqual Ashley.
“To actually play real football is an exciting part of the year,” says head coach Eric Mims Sr.
Several players on the Dons team are committed to play college ball at the D-1 level, but they know talent doesn’t always equal success.
“We can’t just be a lot of talent,” says coach Mims. “We’ve got to play together, we’ve got to play smart, we’ve got to play for our brother, and that’s going to be the difference.”
“We got a couple guys that got offers, so I think our biggest thing is consistency and not letting that get to our head, but stayin
