The Big 12 has center stage the first 10 days of the college football season.

The Kansas State-Iowa State and Kansas-Fresno State games last Saturday gave the Big 12 a virtual monopoly on the sport. Then the best games Thursday (Cincinnati-Nebraska), Friday (Auburn at Baylor, Georgia Tech at Colorado) and Monday (Texas Christian at North Carolina) all involve a Big 12 team.

Alas, the Big 12 spotlight fades after that. The league has a scarcity of marquee non-conference games. The only Big 12 opponents in The Associated Press top 25 are seventh-ranked Oregon, which hosts OSU on September 6, and 16th-ranked Southern Methodist, which hosts Baylor on September 6 and plays at Texas Christian on September 20.
