HONOLULU (Island News) -- Approaching September, local officials continue working on enhancing community safety. Preventing future fireworks disasters is among the largest priorities.

At a town hall meeting on Wednesday at Stevenson Middle School, Honolulu City Councilmember Tyler Dos Santos-Tam stated, "This meeting is focused on the three Fs: fireworks, fire ants and federal cuts."

"We want to make sure the community is paying attention to these issues," added Dos Santos-Tam.
