INDIANAPOLIS — A former Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer has been found not guilty on three charges after being accused of raping a domestic violence victim.

A jury found Myron Howard not guilty of rape, criminal confinement and official misconduct. That verdict was read at 2:40 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28.

IMPD fired Howard after criminal charges were filed against him in 2024.

Investigators say Howard went back to a house where he had just arrested the woman's boyfriend.

Howard admitted he had sex with a woman inside a house on North Olney Street in January 2024, just a few minutes after her boyfriend was arrested for domestic battery. The woman allegedly suffered a bloody lip and injured jaw before she called 911.
