The topic of when rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart could replace starter Russell Wilson in the New York Giants' lineup continues to hover over the organization heading into its regular-season opener at the Washington Commanders on Sept. 7.
While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Giants general manager Joe Schoen reiterated that he and head coach Brian Daboll are sticking with their plan to develop Dart as a backup -- for now.
"I think [Daboll has] said it a million times," Schoen said, as shared by Peter Sblendorio of the New York Daily News. "Russ is our quarterback. So that’s what we’re rolling with, and the timeline [for Dart] will be the timeline, however it works out."
Some think Dart's time as a backup will end when the Giants begin preparing for their home opener
