Two people were injured in a bear attack in Canada not far from the Michigan border.
According to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and Ministry of Natural Resources, the incident occurred on Peoples Road near Fifth Line East in Ontario at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Preliminary information suggests the victims may have inadvertently come between a bear and its cubs. Both victims sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to hospital.
The bear has not been found, and wildlife officials are managing the incident. Bear attacks are very uncommon with that last reported incident in Michigan coming several years ago.
