CoStar Group has purchased an Australian real estate marketplace in a $2 billion deal.

CoStar, a real estate information company with a large presence in Richmond, announced Wednesday it had completed its acquisition of Domain Holdings Australia , the second-largest real estate website in Australia. CoStar first announced its plan to buy the company in May.

The acquisition expands the Virginia-based CoStar into Australia. The company already owns brands in the United Kingdom, France and Germany.

CoStar, headquartered in Arlington County, expects to have 4,000 employees in Richmond next year when its 21-story tower at 501 S. Fifth St. is completed. The company's residential real estate portal, Homes.com , operates out of Richmond.
