NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — In an ongoing effort to combat the spread of the West Nile virus, parts of Queens and Brooklyn will be sprayed with pesticides.

There have been 988 positive cases of West Nile among tested mosquitoes in New York City throughout 2025.

To reduce the number of mosquitoes in hotbed areas such as Queens and Brooklyn, the Health Department will be conducting sprayings on separate nights.

Queens

Trucks spraying pesticides will be conducted in sections of Queens between the hours of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, and 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3. In the event of poor weather, the spraying will be delayed to Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. through 6 a.m. Thursday.

Zip codes trucks will be spraying in include 11101, 11104, 11374, 11375, 11377, 11378, 11379, 11385, 11415, 11418 and 11421.
