Three of the five Orangeburg mayoral candidates shared their visions for Orangeburg during a Monday evening mayoral candidate forum.

Jeanna J. Reynolds, James McQuilla and Gene Nelson all discussed how they would use their experience to improve Orangeburg.

The loudest and most prolonged applause of the evening came when McQuilla said "It's not going to get better with Butler," referring to incumbent Mayor Michael Butler.

"It will get better with one of us up here," he said.

Butler declined the invitation to participate in the forum, held at the Bluebird Theatre downtown. He instead attended the dedication ceremony for the marquee at the All Star Bowling Lanes.

Candidate Darnell Johnson also attended the lighting instead of participating in the forum.
