COLUMBUS, Ohio — A parking lot in downtown Columbus could soon be the site of a 50,000-square-foot YMCA for Columbus State Community College students and downtown residents.

According to a release, Columbus State and the YMCA of Central Ohio are partnering to propose a state-of-the-art facility on the college’s downtown campus that would support student and community wellness, including drop-in child care to student parents while on campus.

The facility would be built on the northeast corner of Long Street and Cleveland Avenue, which currently serves as a surface parking lot. The project’s estimated cost is $38 million.
