LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A man is facing new charges after the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says he dashed out of court.

Deputies say that on the morning of Wednesday, August 27, Wisam Khalil was in a courtroom in the Hall of Justice on a complaint warrant.

According to police, Khalil was talking to his attorney when he made a break for it, running out the doors and down an escalator to the first floor.

Deputies were able to catch Wisam before he got out of the building.

He is now charged with escape, fleeing police and resisting arrest.

Khalil is scheduled to appear in court again on Friday, September 5.
