A water leak at the Stettler Water Treatment Plant has prompted a conservation alert for the villages of Clive and Alix.

The leak prevents the plant from moving water through the system, prompting Stage Three restrictions in Clive and Alix, while Stettler has also reduced some water use.

Under the restrictions, residents are to reduce water use to essential need, and all outdoor water use is prohibited.

Flowerbeds and vegetable gardens may be watered by hand.

Residential use may be interrupted as the system is repaired.

Bulk water sales throughout Stettler County and commercial uses, such as car washes, are suspended until further notice.

The Town of Stettler has also closed its spray park for the day, along with its bulk water station.
