PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A 21-year-old Peoria woman was charged Thursday with running over her boyfriend with a car late Tuesday night.

Kayana M. Polk faces a single count of aggravated domestic battery, a charge that could send her to prison for up to seven years. Peoria County prosecutors have asked a judge to hold her in custody at the county jail pending the outcome of her case.

She appeared briefly in court on Thursday and a judge set a hearing on Friday to hear arguments on the possible detention.

According to court records, officers were called to the area of East Frye and North Wisconsin avenues at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a hit-and-run. When they arrived, officers found the victim, a 22-year-old man who was lying face down on the sidewalk with blood around him, according
