BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — At the Belmont County Fair next week, you can help ease hunger.

Right now, one million people across Ohio suffer from food insecurity.

So the Belmont County 4-H and FFA are competing in the 'Fight Hunger - Stuff the Trailer' contest.

People are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the fair.

Last year, Belmont County's group collected almost six thousand pounds of food, and they're hoping for even more this year.

Cases of water, any non-perishable food items. Cans of soup. We're going into the winter months. Anything would be greatly appreciated. We will have a trailer down by the livestock barns where food drop-offs can be made all week during the fair."

The contest is presented by Farm Credit Mid America and Rural 1st.
