HARVARD, Ill. (WTVO) — A man is in critical condition after a freight train hit his SUV early Thursday morning.

First responders were called to a railroad crossing on McGuire Road around 2:30 a.m.

The SUV was engulfed in flames near the crossing.

The train did not derail or have hazardous material onboard, according to officials.

The crash is still under investigation.
