LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved updated COVID shots on Wednesday.

The newest guidance approves vaccines for adults 65 years and older.

Unless you have at least one high-risk medical condition, the FDA does not recommend a COVID vaccine for anyone 64 years old or younger.

Pfizer's vaccine is also no longer approved for any child under 5 years old. Moderna is approved for kids as young as 6 months old, but it's only recommended for those with at least one health problem.

This new policy represents a significant change from last year's, which recommended an annual COVID vaccine for anyone older than 6 months.
