WOONSOCKET – Playing in its first game in over a month, Lepine Financial Services clinched the Field of Dreams Senior Softball League’s regular-season championship last Friday at Cold Spring Park’s Baldelli Field by rolling to a 13-1 victory over Dr. Day Care.
The win was the 10th in a row for Lepine, which improved its record to 10-2 and holds a four-game lead in the standings over Ronzio Pizza & Subs. The defending champions evened their record at 6-6 by downing Lindy’s Tavern, 19-13, in a battle for sole possession of second place.
Lepine stormed out to a 9-0 lead after three innings in its win over Dr. Day Care, and that was more than enough offensive support for winning pitcher Phil Cummings, who held Dr. Day Care to seven hits, two coming from Todd Tucker.
