LINCOLN – As they prepare for their 54th season, members of the Cumberland Lincoln Community Chorus said they’re hoping to welcome some new singers into the group.

The chorus started back in 1971, when John Azevedo, former music director at Lincoln High School, and Rev. Loring Chadwick, a Cumberland music teacher, began conducting adult music classes in their communities.

At the end of that first year, the students from both classes came together for a performance, and thus, the Cumberland Lincoln Community Chorus was born.

Fast-forward to 2025, and the chorus has a different director, performer and Rhode Island College music professor Judith Lynn Stillman, and different members, but the founding principles remain the same: to foster an inclusive community where music lovers can come to
